Business Analyst

Basic Function

The overall objective for the business analyst is to perform all analysis, design, development, test, and integration activities necessary for the successful future delivery of the company’s solution. The business analyst will act as a liaison between the Business Function and Information Systems. This position may be in the Business Function [Functional/QA Team] or within the IT department [Technical/Development Team].  Business analyst are the functional experts within their field, such as in the financial area or logistical area.  They have the business knowledge and perspective of the IT needs of that business unit. They act as a liaison representing their department and the processes and workings within it by gathering business specifications and requirements and acting as the primary contact to IT for that business units needs that are moderately complex in nature.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct Business Process Reengineering (BPR) to evaluate potential business process changes
  2. Conduct analysis to compare the company’s OOTB solution to their requirements
  3. Conduct a technical risk and standards assessment to identify risks and provide improvement strategies
  4. Conduct a performance and scalability assessment to determine user capacity, data capacity, and computing resource requirements
  5. Assess OOTB interfaces against interface requirements
  6. Develop comprehensive build plan for all requirements
  7. Conduct analysis to identify design activities and develop specific artifacts
  8. Provide technical/functional expertise in identifying, evaluating, and developing basic systems 
  9. Open and maintain lines of communication to monitor and improve business unit satisfaction with IT department
  10. Help the company implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project
  11. Make recommendations for product enhancements

 

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field
  • Knowledge of corporate networking environment
  • Ability to integrate IT architecture
  • Ability to develop comprehensive build plan
  • Ability to assess performance, scalability and COTS interfaces
  • Familiarity with network security (firewalls, certificates, etc.)
  • Windows application server experience
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
